The Youth Architecture Firm class had the unique opportunity of designing and building an urban street/sidewalk installation in the Excelsior neighborhood. During the design phase of the project, students led a community outreach process and determined an appropriate response to neighborhood input. They developed their own design ideas through drawing, modeling, and full-size mock-ups. Ultimately, they are in the process of building street furniture that incorporates lighting, seating and greenery for 3 sites on Mission Street as a pilot for permanent street furniture.
